Data Analyst & Web Developer

The Bundles Innovations for Women’s Empowerment work package (WP 2), co-led by the Alliance of Bioversity and CIAT (ABC), is meant to design and collect systematic evidence on whether and how STIBs (Socio-Technical Innovative Bundles) can enhance women’s empowerment and resilience to later design and implement context-specific and gender-responsive STIBs. We intend to build on available and relevant CGIAR and non-CGIAR innovations through learning labs to enhance their uptake and impacts via enhancing women’s access, resilience and empowerment. The consultant will be required to design the layout and user experience of an existing platform, develop the wireframe, code, test, and review the platform, and offer support for maintenance and debugging. She/he will contribute to identifying and pulling out information on existing socio-technical from different data sets across the One CGIAR and visualize it in different formats to ensure the successful completion of this research project.

  • Ensure that design and layout effectively visualize the content and demonstrate the platform’s functionality.
  • In coordination with the project team, collect and curate relevant information on socio-technical bundling that promotes women’s empowerment and resilience.
  • Present the design and layout for the approval of the project team.
  • In coordination with CGIAR Data teams, do an inventory of available gender and socio-economic datasets, data and tools that could facilitate bundling.
  • Define and cluster different socio-technical bundles in the available gender and socio-economic datasets and visualize them
  • Writing a report on findings
  • A portfolio of similar work completed for the last three years
  • At least five years of experience as a full-stack developer
  • Hands-on modern PHP and knowledge of PHP front-end frameworks. Experience with the Laravel PHP Framework will be an added advantage.
  • Proficient with popular JS application frameworks such as React, Angular, Vue, and Bootstrap
  • Excellent working and demonstrated knowledge of HTML, CSS, Jquery, and experience with responsive design and development
  • Excellent knowledge of MySQL
  • Excellent knowledge of developing and consuming data from RESTful Application Programming Interfaces (API’s)
  • Experience in developing and implementing custom and complex WordPress websites and editing WordPress plugins will be an advantage.
  • Ability to write secure and clean code and documentation. The use of source code repositories such as Git is required.
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to conduct performance debugging, bench-marking and able to identify resolutions
  • Experience working with nonprofit organizations
